its really accurate, makes people really angry, and does not hit as hard as ac/40 but does not have a range weakness. mlas are for follow up, without them you encounter a lot of situations where they're cherry red and they pound on you until you reload. mlas eliminates that. Also no armor on the arms does two things, 1 it frees up weight and 2 it distracts people psychologically. People are typically conditioned to go for less armored spots and those who are not in control of their subconscious in this regard will more often than not prefer to go for your arms first.
As far as weight fiddly diddly goes, you can trade a mlas for another ton of ammo, or use small lasers, but I really recommend going with this basic setup first before making changes unless you're already familiar with how quickly mlas will finish a cherry. also 30+10 you're basically an ac40. basically.

drop a ton of ammo for a 270 if you want, its only about 7 extra double shots
